Thana Plaun Hydroelectric Project, India

The Thana Plaun HEP (187 MW) is located on Beas River in Himachal Pradesh, and is being developed by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL). The project includes an RCC and conventional concrete gravity dam,   107 m high, together with an underground powerhouse  with relatively short upstream and downstream underground waterways.  The review focused on the dam design, geological, geotechnical and seismic aspects, but also included the hydraulics as well as reservoir sedimentation.
