New control centres will optimize power supply in Cairo

Two new distribution network control centres will be implemented by the end of 2019 to contribute to an efficient and reliable power supply in the metropolitan area of Cairo. On October 4th, Lahmeyer International signed a contract for providing the corresponding consulting services to the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC). The Egyptian state television, ERTU, broadcasted the official contract awarding ceremony.more

Load test passed: Hybrid power plant in the Galapagos runs on jatropha oil

The staff of EEPG, Siemens and Lahmeyer International are on the home stretch.

Starting in the end of 2018, a hybrid power plant will supply the Galapagos island of Isabela with electricity largely generated from renewable energy. A PV system and diesel generators running on pure jatropha oil take over this task. The vegetable oil is harvested and produced in Manabí on Ecuador’s mainland and extracted from ripe nuts of the jatropha curcas plant. This biofuel is an integral part of the “Zero Fossil Fuels in Galapagos” initiative.more

Official opening of key project for the energy transition, Bavaria

A future-oriented 12.5 MW battery storage system gives the Pfreimd power plant portfolio more flexibility.

An innovative battery storage system was officially inaugurated on 25 May, 2018 in Pfreimd, Bavaria. On the site of the Oberpfalz-based hydropower plant group, ENGIE Deutschland implemented the storage system with a capacity of 13.5 MWh. It supplements the existing 137 MW hydropower plant and provides support for a more reliable and efficient power supply with a high regenerative element.more

Thomas Shaw-Dunn and Frederic Arnaud have taken over the management of Tractebel Engineering in Dubai. The long-standing Managing Director Alain Vannerum will leave the company with effect from 31 December 2018.more

Start of construction for water tunnel in Sri Lanka

His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, President of Sri Lanka, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kaluganga – Moragahakanda Transfer Canal

At the end of July, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the construction of two water tunnels for a water resources project in Sri Lanka. Lahmeyer prepared the engineering designs and will supervise construction of the project over the next three years.more
