Masjed-e-Soleiman
Masjed-e-Soleiman is located in the province of Khuzestan in southwest Iran. The hydropower plant was initially planned and built with a rating of 1,000 MW, and was extended to 2,000 MW in a second phase. The rockfill dam has a clay core. The extension of the powerhouse cavern from 1,000 MW to 2,000 MW presented some very unusual challenges.
