The Government of the Sultanate of Oman has embarked on a comprehensive programme for the restructuring, regulation and privatisation of the electricity supply and the related water industry in Oman. In this regard the Government issued the request for proposal for the acquisition of the Al-Rusail Power Company and a new Independent Power and Water Project which shall be located next to an existing power and water generation facility located on the Omani coast approximately 6 km east of the town of Barka.
