Az-Zour North IWPP, Phase 1, Combined Cycle Power and Desalination Plant
Lahmeyer International has been awarded a contract by PTB to provide technical advisory services regarding Kuwait’s first IWPP.
The Project will be the first phase of a major power generation and water production complex that will be developed over five stages at the Az-Zour site and that will provide a total capacity of 4,800 MW and around 280 MIGD. The Project includes the development of shared facilities, such as back-up fuel storage facilities, that will be used by the subsequent Project phases.
The Project will be developed on a build, own, operate and transfer basis by Az-Zour Oula Power and Water Company (“AOPWC”), a special purpose vehicle that will be established as a Kuwaiti public joint stock company under the laws of the State of Kuwait with forty per cent (40%) to be owned by the Successful Bidder and the remainder held by Public Entities and Kuwaiti nationals.

- Elaboration of Feasibility Study Report.
Phase II (Preparation of Project Procurement Process):
- Development of all technical RFP documents incl. Project agreements (ECWPA, SHA, LLA etc.)
- Project presentations to Bidders and site visit
- Elaboration of replies to technical clarifications raised by Bidders
- Individual clarification meetings with Bidders and
- Bid evaluation and contract negotiations.
