Sudan: The MEROWE Hydropower Station
On March 3rd, 2009, the Merowe dam and the first two power generating units (1 & 2) of the associated hydropower station started operation. In total 10 power generating units with a total capacity of 1250 MW are accommodated in the powerhouse complex. By the end of May 2009 the subsequent two power generating units (3 & 4) will start commercial operation.
