Lahmeyer International supports West Africa’s first wind farm project
West Africa’s first wind farm project is being built in Northern Nigeria with the support of Lahmeyer International. Having an installed capacity of 10 MW, the project will consist of 37 wind turbines of 275 kW each. The French turbine manufacturer Vergnet SA has been awarded by the Federal Ministry of Power - FMP of Nigeria with the contract for the implementation of the project.
The „Katsina Wind Farm“ is located in Lambarimi in the state of Katsina and shall start operation by March 2012. Lahmeyer International was assigned with the technical assistance during project implementation. Lahmeyer’s tasks comprise the electrical design, ranging from a detailed grid connection study and the tendering of the grid connection equipment up to site supervision.
