Lahmeyer acquires majority in IDP Consult
With the acquisition of a majority interest in IDP Consult the Lahmeyer Group remains on a growth path and expands its competences in government consultation in the fields of water, energy and environment in the South-East Asian market. The share purchase agreement was signed on April 16 and closing of the transaction took place on June 6. After closing, Lahmeyer owns 70 % of the company’s shares.
In the beginning of 2012 the minority shareholders of IDP Consult Inc. repurchased their shares back from Finnish Pöyry Inc. These shares, plus newly subscribed shares, have now been sold to the Lahmeyer Holding GmbH.
IDP Consult is among the premiere Philippine-based management consultancy firms with accumulated proficiencies in the fields of water supply and sanitation, energy and infrastructure, environmental and urban development, as well as municipal finance and financial management, institutional capacity building and governance. The company will operate under the name Lahmeyer IDP Consult and will co-ordinate its services closely with Lahmeyer International. The President of the company Evelyn Orda will continue to manage the business.
IDP Consult has undertaken over 150 technical assistance projects in more than 30 countries for clients consisting of international donors such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank (WB) and other development institutions. In addition to its own staff the company works together with 10 local partners and generated a turnover of 1.6 million Euro in 2011.
With the merger Lahmeyer Group anticipates an expansion of its impact in the water, energy and environmental markets across the Asian region. As an integral part of the Lahmeyer Group, Lahmeyer IDP Consult will benefit from the joint access to information, technical and manpower resources comprising interregional networks of specialists, project managers and support professionals with relevant experience worldwide.
