Extension of High-Voltage Grid in Qatar: New Major Site Supervision Contract

Lahmeyer International continues to consolidate its position as an Engineering Consultant in the energy sector in the Arabian Gulf with a new major contract. Lahmeyer has been awarded a contract for the supervision of the implementation phase of the „Phase 10“ extension of the high-voltage grid in Qatar on behalf of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Authority (KAHRAMAA). In addition to the site supervision itself, the Services also include the overall project management as well as the review and approval of the Contractor´s design.

A total of five EPC Contractors will perform the construction work under Lahmeyer ’s responsibility. Lahmeyer will supervise the construction of ten new 66 kV, one 132 kV and four new 220 kV substations, as well as the extension or modernization of two 66 kV, two 132 kV and two 220 kV substations. The project also includes twenty underground cable connections between the different substations, at the various voltage levels.

Moreover, Lahmeyer has been entrusted by KAHRAMAA as well with the responsibility for the supervision of the complete fire protection measures and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) of the overall Phase 10 project installations.
