Hydrology and Reservoir Operation
The planning and development of projects in the water sector requires comprehensive information ideally based on reliable observation networks. We analyse meteorological and hydrological data and apply statistical methods and simulation models to derive streamflow hydrographs and flood discharges required for the design of dams and hydropower plants. Hydrographs include not only the assessment of the preceding data, but also the impact of future climate change on the particular project.
For construction management, we determine the most efficient river diversion scheme and model and supervise the reservoir impoundment process. We simulate and optimise reservoir operation for isolated reservoirs or integrated reservoirs systems, considering multiple objectives such as hydropower generation, irrigation demands, ecological needs, flood protection and sediment management.
Inflow forecast as well as advising and updating of operation rules complement our services covering the full range from initial studies to commercial operation.
