Jointly master ongoing and future Challenges

Bernd Rößner – Project Manager Thermal Power Plants

Implementing projects as a Project Manager for Lahmeyer International is a fascinating and challenging role. A huge variety of tasks are carried out in the course of providing services for our clients throughout all project phases, from pre-feasibility to implementation and plant hand over. Moreover, each project is unique regarding technology and implementation as well as being driven by the specific client requirements.

For me, this combination of technical knowledge as well as directly working with people basically all over the world is extremely interesting. Our role as Consultant provides the chance to actively shape both, the project itself as well as our tasks, and - consequently - our own role.

Dr Vladimir Zorc - Head of Department Electromechanical Equipment for Hydropower

As Head of Department for Electromechanical Equipment for hydropower plants I am confronted with numerous interesting national and international projects. In project work, comprehensive and challenging tasks are motivating and enjoyable for me. At the same time, it is great to be employed by a company where there is such a good working environment, and teaming up with cooperative and helpful colleagues.

The connection to the other professional fields, like civil engineering, electrical engineering, environmental technology etc., has a special appeal to me. The various tasks, such as studies, offers, tenders, supervision of the erection and commissioning as well as support to the client for operation and maintenance, ensure an interesting and varied field of activity. The cooperation with different customers and contractors presents an exciting challenge that features a lot of variety, requires high personal responsibility and offers a great scope of freedom during project implementation.

Dr Gang Sheng - Engineer Hydropower and Water Resources

As a mechanical engineer, I am responsible for the electro-mechanical equipment (different types of water turbines, their auxiliaries, main inlet valves, etc.), hydro-mechanical equipment (trash racks, different types of gates, penstocks, etc.) as well as mechanical equipment of hydropower plants.

I have been involved in all development phases of hydropower projects, such as: feasibility study, tender design, tender documents, bid evaluation and contract negotiation, approval of the execution documents provided by the suppliers, erection supervision and commissioning. The diversity of the activities makes my job highly interesting, and (nearly) every day there is a new challenge. In the course of the projects, I have come to know many different cultures – starting in the home office, where my colleagues also come from countries all over the world.

Dr Patric Kleineidam - Head of Department Wind Energy

My name is Patric Kleineidam and I am heading the wind energy department of Lahmeyer International. In this department we are working on wind energy projects around the world. We accompany projects in all phases of the project cycle, starting from the wind measurement, through the planning phase up to installation and operation. I have worked for Lahmeyer International since 2005, and during this time I have been involved in projects in Asia, Africa and Europe. Being a civil engineer, it was most fascinating to work for several months in the construction supervision of a large wind farm project in Korea. Further highlights have been the direct contacts with clients in many different countries and working with our young and international team. Working for Lahmeyer International is always a challenge!

Venja Schachtner – Secretary/Assistant

I have been working with Lahmeyer for more than twelve years now. I applied for the job right after I had finished my apprenticeship in 1998 and Lahmeyer gave me a chance to get involved with an internationally operating company - a wonderful piece of luck for me as a foreign language secretary. Since then I feel really comfortable working with Lahmeyer. I am the secretary/assistant to the Commercial Director and the associated Commercial Department of the Energy Division.

Lahmeyer International has projects in many different countries: a fact which enables me, particularly as a translator, to use my English skills in the day-to-day-business and to improve myself. The working atmosphere is excellent and I am lucky to collaborate with a great team.

Frank Feyand – Engineer Privately Financed Power Plants

Working in the department for privately financed power plants is a unique chance and challenge on an international level. My tasks principally consist of project work in all phases – starting from worldwide market observations and follow-up of projects via project development, up to the implementation of thermal power plants. In this connection, interface coordination and supervision are of high importance.

Besides the technical content, economic and business aspects have to be considered in order to ensure the success of a privately financed power plant. Special emphasis is put on the individual demands of the different categories of customers all over the world, such as investors, project developers, banks or governmental authorities. The valuable support of the colleagues within a project team is a key component for project success.

I really enjoy the varied range of my tasks as project manager, in combination with a high degree of responsibility and a good working relationship with international clients.
