Consultancy & Pre-feasibility Study for 500 MW Power Plant for Greenfield Steel Mill
Lahmeyer International was assigned to execute a pre-feasibility study on power and heat supply for the expansion of JSC ArcelorMittal steel mill at Temirtau, Kazakhstan, as well as for the complete Temirtau City (about 180,000 inhabitants).
To provide the cost-effective, efficient and reliable supply of power to the steel mill the conceptual design of a coal fired thermoelectric power stations (approx. 500 MWel) was elaborated. In addition to this large power station, a smaller multi-fuel power plant fired by coal, coke oven gas (COG), blast furnaces gas (BFG), basic oxygen furnace (BOF) gas and mazout, which provides process steam, was assessed.
